Bees Win Midwest League Championship!

By Jared

The Burlington Bees have won their first Midwest League Championship since 1999! The Bees were declared champions on Saturday because of the continuous rains that were falling throughout most of the country.

Thanks Bees’ fans for a fantastic season! Your support was awesome, especially throughout the playoffs. I know the players and coaches really appreciated it.

Here are some shots from the celebration:

The team with the trophy!

The guys had a lot of fun playing in the water.

Just like kids again.

Lots of fans greeted the team when they arrived back in Burlington.

Congratulations to the Bees! What a great finish to the season. Oh I wish I could have been at the celebration! Instead, I was cleaning water out of my basement. I’ll look forward to the new championship shirts, etc. Best of the luck next year to all the ex-Bees team members.

This team was a lot of fun to watch this year. The Bees staff did a great job this season from top to bottom in such a small community!

Thanks for the comments everyone. From early April to mid-September, it was a fun and exciting season; a season I will never forget. A big part of what I will remember is the great fans we have in the Burlington area and how well you all supported the team, especially during the playoffs. We were almost out-drawing teams in much bigger markets like Cedar Rapids and Kane County in the playoffs! I can’t wait for 2009!
