The month ahead

May promises to be a busy, action-packed month at The Hive.

Last night, your Bees played their first of 19 games here this month.

Let’s look at some of the highlights of our remaining 18 May home games:

Tonight and Thursday: Bees vs. Lansing Lugnuts
Tonight, we host our first Kids Eat Free Wednesday of the season.
Tomorrow morning, we wrap up this series with an 11:30 game on Reading Club/D.A.R.E. Day.

MAY 10-11: Bees vs. Clinton LumberKings

MAY 12-13: Bees vs. Swing of the Quad Cities
Saturday, May 12: Pepsi Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition For boys and girls, age 14 and under (must provide a copy of a valid birth certificate or baptismal record for age verification). Contest starts at noon. No registration fee. The Bees and Swing play that night at 6.

MAY 17-20: Bees vs. South Bend Silver Hawks
This series marks the start of a 10-game home stand — our longest of the season.
Friday, May 18: Honor Roll Day (11:30 start)
Saturday, May 19: Armed Forces Day Join us for a pre-game ceremony at 5:45 for this 6 o’clock game, as we honor our military. Currently serving military members and their immediate family get in free when they present their military I.D. at the main gate. Our friends from Supporting Our Families and Troops (S.O.F.T.) are doing a great job coordinating this event.
Sunday, May 20: Community Basket Day sponsored by the Chicken Lip Foundation…Need we say more? Check out the state’s largest community basket, on display at FunCity…and give yourself a chance to win by buying those Community Basket tickets!

MAY 21-24: Bees vs. Great Lakes Loons
We welcome the Midwest League’s new affiliate of the Dodgers to The Hive for the first time. The Loons are managed by eight-time big league all-star Lance Parrish.

MAY 25-26: Bees vs. Clinton LumberKings
Friday, May 25: Fireworks Friday and Sponsor Appreciation Night
— an excellent way to start your Memorial Day weekend
Saturday, May 26: Luke Hochevar Poster Giveaway on Educator Appreciation Night The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive posters of the 2006 Bees phenom who was the first overall pick of last year’s Major League Draft. Plus, all educators get in free when they show their school I.D. at the gate!

MAY 29-30: Bees vs. Wisconsin Timber Rattlers
Wednesday, May 30:
Work Release Wednesday We wrap up May with a noon-start game. Would you rather be at work, or at the ball park? Yes, it certainly is a tough decision…
