Bees bust out with 11-0 pounding

The Bees snapped their losing streak in a BIG way last night.

They thumped the Lansing Lugnuts 11-0 here at The Hive.

Congratulations goes out to utility man and all-around nice guy Jeremy Jirschele, who hit his first pro home run. He also delivered a two-run double, and was part of a two-hit club that included Derrick Robinson, Chris McConnell, and Joe Dickerson. Kurt Mertins led the hit parade with three base knocks.

Starter Harold Mozingo and relievers Chris Hayes and Aaron Hartsock held the Lugnut hitters in check in this huge win.

It’s Reading Club/ D.A.R.E. Day. Time to start wrapping more than 1,000 hot dogs and pouring just as many cups of Pepsi products. The first school buses will start rolling up in less than two hours!

The hot dog wrapping assembly line…my favorite part of DARE/Honor Roll Days!! I bet the cotton candy,Mt. Dew, and mini bats were going like mad, too! I’m sure the showers didn’t keep the kids from having a great time today!

    You’re 100 percent accurate!

It was a fun day — one that went by real fast. You know how that goes…

This was just a nice warm-up for Honor Roll Day in a couple weeks, when we’ll have more than 2,000 middle- and high-schoolers here. Fortunately, we’ll also have our interns on board for that one!
