The team bus made a small detour on the way to West Michigan this morning, dropping pitcher Yovany D’Amico off at the Quad City Airport.
The right-hander from Venezuela has been promoted to the high-A Wilmington (Delaware) Blue Rocks, whose pitching staff was depleted last night in a 13-inning game. D’Amico had no record, a 1.32 ERA, and one save in six appearances with the Bees, striking out 14 and walking just two in 13.2 innings.
In another roster move, the Royals decided yesterday that outfielder Jarrod Dyson will not return directly to the Bees after his time spent back home in Mississippi on the bereavement list. He has missed more than two weeks this season, returning home on two separate occasions after the passing of his father and grandmother. Our thoughts are with Jarrod, as he reports to extended spring training in Arizona and tries to get back into the routine of playing baseball.
