Not that long ago, things seemed to be on the up-swing for your Bees.
Last Wednesday and Thursday, they broke out of a five-game losing streak by stringing together back-to-back shutout wins, blanking Lansing by scores of 11-0 and 4-0. The pitching was dominant, the defense was solid, and the bats brought in the runs. The Bees were on the cusp of .500, and it looked like they had the momentum to carry them over the hump.
Then they took their two-game winning streak on the road. And it’s been a rough haul for your Bees, who find themselves trying to snap a five-game losing streak tonight at Clinton. The team lost four straight to defending league champion West Michigan, then stopped in Clinton for games last night and tonight against the LumberKings.
The good news is that the Bees will be back in the friendly confines of The Hive tomorrow, starting a four-game weekend homestand: two more games against these division-leading LumberKings, then two against the Swing of the Quad Cities.
Tomorrow marks the start of a busy stretch for us: 16 home games in 21 days to finish out May. Factor in that we’ve got doubleheaders on June 2 and June 4 (both 6 p.m. starts) to make up the April snow-outs in Cedar Rapids, and we’re looking at 22 home games in 29 days. Plenty of opportunity to catch your Bees at home in the coming weeks!
