Bees pound out 7-1 win on Community Basket Day
The crowd cheers on Alvi Morel, who is met at home plate by teammates Matt Morizio and O.D. Gonzalez after homering in the fifth inning yesterday. Morel’s three-run shot broke a 1-all tie in the big win over the South Bend Silver Hawks.

Burlington police officers Kenny Zahner and Jeff Klein present Bees manager Jim Gabella and his wife Cindi with framed autograph displays from Bobby Murcer (Gabella’s favorite player) and Ralph Houk (his favorite manager). The pre-game cermony celebrated Gabella becoming the franchise’s all-time winningest manager in the Midwest League — a mark our fourth-year manager set in April.
As part of Community Basket tradition, these groups of tailgaters arrived early and stayed late after the game.
Representing the Chicken Lip Foundation (the sponsor of Community Basket Day), Chick N. Lip delivered a ceremonial first pitch.

The big winner of our first-ever Weiner-Dog Race was Lester, representing the Friends of Community Field.
