A familiar face has joined the team.
We welcome back catcher Jeff Howell, who joined the Bees yesterday. The Florida native had been in extended spring training, where he was finishing his recovery from off-season wrist surgery.
Howell was a fan favorite here last season. Playing through a wrist injury through much of 2006, he hit .249 with 5 homers and 35 RBI. He also had a team-best 10-game hitting streak and threw out 38 percent of would-be base stealers.
The Bees now have four catchers on the active roster: Howell, Ross Boudreaux, Brady Everett, and Matt Morizio. You can expect to see Everett spending more time at first base.
When the Royals announced that Howell has been assigned to Burlington, they also announced that infielder/outfielder Scott Lucas has been released.
