Fisher on DL; Barrera back on team

The Kansas City Royals have placed left-handed pitcher Brent Fisher on the disabled list with a left rotator-cuff strain. Right-hander Henry Barrera rejoins the Bees from extended spring training.

A resident of Goodyear, Arizona, Fisher is 1-4 with a 5.09 ERA in nine appearances. The 19-year-old was the youngest player on the Bees’ Opening Day roster, and he was the team’s starter on Opening Day. A seventh-round pick in 2005, Fisher was ranked 10th on Baseball America‘s Top 30 prospect list coming into this season.

Barrera came to Burlington to start the season, but was sent back to spring training before appearing in a game. The Rosemead, California, native was ruled to have an illegal delivery and was sent back to the Royals’ camp in Arizona to work out the hitch in his mechanics. Drafted in the fifth round of the 2004 draft, Barrera has pitched the last two seasons in the Arizona Rookie League. He will be in uniform tomorrow, ready to pitch out of the bullpen.
