We’ll be seeing bushels of the Cedar Rapids Kernels here in June.
Your Bees host 12 home games this month, and would you believe that 10 of these games come against the Kernels? The only non-Cedar Rapids games that the Bees play at The Hive in June are on the 11th and 12th, when we welcome Ryne Sandberg’s Peoria Chiefs.
The Kernels-heavy home action starts tomorrow, when we start a six-game series. The Bees and the Kernels will play doubleheaders at 6 p.m. on Saturday and Monday, making up for games lost to snow in Cedar Rapids in April. The Sunday afternoon game, set for 2 o’clock, and the Tuesday game at 7 p.m. have not changed from our original schedule.
Saturday is TEAM-PHOTO GIVEAWAY NIGHT, sponsored by Burlington Trailways and Photovisions. The first 750 fans through the gate for the twinbill will get one of these colorful, collectible 8×10 prints of your 2007 Bees:
Sunday is our annual RECYCLING DAY, presented by Area Recyclers. We’ll be promoting recycling through fun facts and games throughout the game, and you can learn more by visiting the Area Recyclers’ concourse display.
Area Recyclers has donated a whole big boxload of these items, all made from recycled materials: t-shirts (recycled plastic), water bottles (plastic), and mugs (the gray ones are recycled newspaper, the blue ones are jeans). We’ll be throwing these prizes into the stands during Recycling Day.
