Luke Hochevar picks up first Major League win

>

Although his stay here in Burlington was not long, Luke Hochevar sure stood out for the Bees. You may remember Hochevar’s highly anticipated arrival to The Hive late in the 2006 season. Earlier that year, Luke was taken 1st overall in the amateur baseball draft by the Royals.

The hard-throwing right-hander out of the University of Tennessee pitched in 4 games for the Bees, allowing 2 runs in 15.1 innings pitched while striking out 16 batters.

Now pitching for the Royals, Hochevar earned his first career win Saturday night in a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays. Luke threw 6 innings, allowing just 1 run, 6 hits and walked 2 batters. He also struck out 3 batters.

It looks like the Royals plan on keeping Hochevar in the starting rotation for awhile. We wish him good luck!
