Staff Trip to Kansas City

Our staff made the annual trip to Kansas City this past weekend to see the Royals play against the Seattle Mariners. Kauffman Stadium is a beautiful facility and will be even better when the renovations are finished next season.

On Friday, former Bees Luke Hochevar out-pitched Seattle’s Felix Hernandez in a 3-1 Royals win. Saturday was an up-and-down game, as the Royals got off to an early 3-0 lead, but the Mariners put a 4-spot on the board in the 6th inning to take the lead. It didn’t look good for the Royals in the 9th until, with 2 outs, Billy Butler walked and then David DeJesus hit the first pitch he saw over the fence in right field for a dramatic Royals win. Royals 2nd basemen Mark Grudzielanek collected his 2,000th career hit in the game on Saturday.

Here are some shots from the games and our tour of Kauffman Stadium:

We were lucky enough to go on a small tour of Kauffman Stadium Saturday. Here we’re in the visiting dugout checking out the field.
